Sub-contracted through NetSurvey to provide DOF Subsea with specialist multibeam personnel onboard the MV Geoholm for the BP Block 31 North East Development PSVM project. BP intends to develop a number of fields in offshore Angola. This is the first development project in Block 31, consisting of four oil fields (Plutao, Saturno, Venus and Marte). The MV Geoholm is assisting Technip’s Deep Blue – the world’s largest purpose-built ultra deepwater pipelay and subsea construction vessel. Nine small diameter (10″/12″) pipelines are being installed in water depths ranging from 1800m to 2100m. High-resolution as-laid and out of straightness surveys of the pipelines were conducted using an ROV mounted dual Reson 7125 multibeam system, together with a Kongsberg HAIN system for improved positioning accuracy. The EIVA software suite was used for data acquisition and initial processing, with the VisualSoft suite utilised for digital video and final survey data processing.
