Sub-contracted through NetSurvey to provide Nord Stream AG with a consultant, performing internal as-built survey data review and evaluation at their office in Zug, Switzerland. Nord Stream is a natural gas pipeline through the Baltic Sea. In the last quarter of 2011, Line 1 of the twin pipeline system will begin supplying gas to the European Union from Russia. This secure supply of natural gas will help the EU to meet its CO2 reduction targets and act as a bridge to a future of greater use of renewable energy sources. The twin pipelines are each 1,224 kilometres long and run along the seabed from Vyborg, Russia to Greifswald, Germany. When fully operational in the last quarter of 2012, the two lines will supply 55 billion cubic metres of Russian gas a year to the EU for at least 50 years. The project has set new benchmarks for international teamwork and collaboration between partners and suppliers across Europe and Russia. Nord Stream is a joint project of five major companies; OAO Gazprom, BASF SE/Wintershall Holding GmbH, E:ON Ruhrgas AG, N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie and GDF SUEZ S.A.
